6 Signs That Your Cat Is Happy

Cats can be a bit perplexing at times. After all, Fluffy ignores us when we call her, sometimes bites affectionately, and has a habit of bringing us small, dead animals as gifts. Kitties can also be a bit temperamental, to say the least. So how do you tell if your feline pal is content? An East Dallas, TX vet offers some tips below.

She Welcomes You Home

Fido may be more well-known for enthusiastic greetings than Fluffy is, but that isn’t entirely fair. Many kitties also run to meet their humans at the door! If your cute pet loves to welcome you home, it’s a good sign that your furball is content, and quite happy to see you.

Purrfect Relaxation

If there’s one thing cats are good at, it’s relaxing. However, Fluffy won’t feel as at ease if she’s scared, uncomfortable, or unhappy. If you often find your kitty nonchalantly sprawled out on the floor, or draped across your furniture, it’s probably safe to say your little buddy is happy.

Does your furry friend love to play? If so, that’s another clear sign that your kitty is indeed happy. Even senior cats will still have moments of liveliness!

Good Health

Your feline friend’s appearance will say a lot about how well she’s doing. Healthy cats are happy cats! Soft fur, clear eyes, and a good appetite are all indications that your kitty is purrfectly satisfied. A good ‘report card’ from the vet is also a sign that Fluffy is thriving.

Although some of our feline buddies are naturally aloof, many of them are quite loving and affectionate, and enjoy being petted or held. If your cat is content, she may sleep on your lap, curl up beside you in bed, and/or purr when you pet her or pick her up. Even if Fluffy isn’t a lap cat, she’ll likely interact with you in some way, such as by meowing at you or following you around.

Content kitties are very curious by nature, and love investigating things. If Fluffy often pokes her nose into boxes or bags you bring home, or is just generally inquisitive, you may very well have a happy cat on your hands!
