7 Ways to Celebrate International Cat Day

There’s a special kitty holiday coming up: August 8 is International Cat Day! We don’t really need much of a reason to celebrate our feline friends. Their cute faces, adorable antics, and affectionate cuddles are all truly precious. That said, there’s no reason you can’t spoil Fluffy a bit. Read on for some great tips on celebrating International Cat Day from a White Rock, TX veterinarian.

Catnip may very well be the purrfect way to spoil your playful pet. This may be just as fun for you as it is for your kitty! (Note: don’t worry about overdoing it: Fluffy can’t possibly overdose.)

Giving your furry buddy a new toy is bound to brighten up her day. You can’t go wrong with a classic toy, like a catnip mouse. You can also try something more modern, like a remote-controlled mouse or an automated laser pointer.

If there’s one thing that all of our furry patients enjoy, it’s a yummy snack. Fluffy can have a can of plain tuna, shrimp, crabmeat, boneless salmon, or chicken in water. She may also appreciate a bowl of sodium-free broth, or perhaps a bit of plain, cooked meat, fish, or chicken, without the skin, bones, or fat. Store-bought treats are also fine.

As far as Fluffy is concerned, there’s just no such thing as too many napping spots. Buy or make your pet a new bed. Or, just put a soft folded blanket on a couch, chair, or ottoman, and tell your furball to stay off. She’ll jump right on!

Kitties are extremely photogenic, and really take some adorable photos. Snap some cute pics of your feline pal, and share them on social media. You can experiment with different apps and effects.

Do you have kids? Get your little ones involved by having them do something for Fluffy. They can make her a homemade bed, or perhaps a pet tent. You’ll find ideas and instructions online. You can also have them draw a picture of their feline pal, or maybe write a poem or story about her.

At the end of the day, the best way to make your pet feel special is just to pay attention to her!
